Accuse and deny

Charles Porter's Forum column of May 24 is certainly consistent with the administration: Accuse the opposition of a lack of patriotism when they disagree, deny responsibility when things go wrong, and keep trying to associate Iraq with terrorism.

In his column, he ignores the fact that Paul Wolfowitz advanced the argument of invading Iraq in 1992 and the fact that his proposal was for establishing strategic American bases and control of Iraqi oil. Any "democracy" will only be allowed if it is friendly to the current administration, as proven by the cancellation of elections when it was obvious the Shiite majority would win.

If he has verifiable proof that the "majority of the armed resistance is made up of terrorists from other countries," he might want to share this bit of unknown intelligence with our military.

And, lastly, it is not only the privilege but the duty of the press to disagree editorially with any administration that has demonstrated the incompetence at leading this country that this one has.
