With major problems looming for the citizens of Corpus Christi, ranging from child care problems to loss of income, where was the local information system? It was non-existent. Consider: The city knew on Tuesday evening that there was an emergency with the water supply. The first radio announcement that we heard about the closing of the schools was at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, long after an appropriate time to inform parents of small children that they needed to make plans. With a loss in water pressure there could be contamination of the water supply requiring citizens to boil drinking water. No announcement was made. We listened to the radio and were not informed of the need to conserve water. Pay attention, city and state officials. This casual approach to our security and the needs of our families is not acceptable. The school closing announcements should have begun Tuesday evening and repeated every 15 minutes. The potential lack of safety of the water supply should have been addressed. We expect better from you. Fern Katz
