Letters to the Editor Thursday, 17 April, 2003 Do not kill Peace activists were against the war for two basic reasons: We are opposed to unnecessary deaths among our loyal, young military people or among Iraqis, and because we were not convinced that any of the reasons stated by our president's men in justification for the war had any validity. We have "liberated" those poor, innocent people from all of the worries associated with their miserable, poverty-stricken lives. We have murdered them, and many in our administration couldn't care less. We have not quite leveled all Iraqi cities yet, but we are well on the way. But don't worry, we will issue a huge contract to Haliburton to rebuild them, financed by funds derived from sales of Iraqi oil. I think I have now figured out what the real reasons are for this cruel and unjust war. They are to aid in the re-election of our president and to make our vice president even richer than he is. The Cheney story involves such blatant conflict of interest that it is almost impossible to believe. Mr. President, please remember the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." Then get rid of Rove and the other evil advisers who led you astray, stop the war, bring our troops home, and save your soul. Arthur H. Clarke
