Letters to the Editor Thursday, 27 March, 2003 Doing what's right The United States of America is a proud land, full of right-minded people who know what to do when the going gets tough. We are creative, charitable, lovable, and in this thing together for the betterment of humankind as a whole. E-mail and the Internet are technological developments which Americans use for good, for the most part. We reach out to each other. We investigate the world at our fingertips. We touch others in other countries, and those others know us for what we do in life, not what is on TV. Americans put money, starting with their pennies, into benevolent funds worldwide. Americans are generous, not only with money, but with time, energy, for life, good for one, good for all. Being selfish, bigoted, greedy, acting better than others, is about to change. Look out for hard times if you think you can outsmart Americans who live with goodness, peace, justice, love, as a way to go. The time has come for that side of us to shine. It is, it has, and it still will. James B. Cudd
