For months now President Bush has been making his case for military action against Iraq. One local group opposed to a possible war gathered in front of city hall. The group is called "Patriots for America". They say they are being patriotic, not anti-American, when they take a stand against this war. About 60 members of the group gathered to voice opposition to a possible war. The demonstrators said they realize that they'll have their work cut out for them to change the minds of the president and some American people. Keith Rowley is one of the founders of Patriots for America. He helped put together the group about 3 weeks ago. Rowley says they are meeting once a week and he's pleased with the response so far, "Until I know there's legitimate proof that this war is just, there there is no way I can agree with it". The group was especially sensitive to being labeled patriotic Americans. Catherina Albert, a teacher, says, "I want to say you know in the United States of America, the most patriotic thing you can do is questions what we're doing". The Patriots for America group meets weekly at the Lotus Cup Coffee Shop on South Water Street. They are also planning a major rally and march in February. The rally will be held in front of the Federal courthouse on Saturday, February 15th at 4:00pm.
