Hi peace freeks!

We had a great meeting tonight-- although I was a bit down when I got there, by the time I left, I was re-charged & ready to be peaceful!

Notes from tonight's STAP meeting at Creative Spirit (directions):

1. Plans for Saturday, May 3 Showdown in Texas

• several marches starting in different places at 11am, all heading to Capitol bldg at noon
• another march out to several downtown defense contractors
• if there are 100,000 people downtown, it will be very crowded. IH-35 will definitely be slow; 183 may be better from CC, 281 from San Antonio.
• Let's try to meet at NOON @ northwest corner of 10th & Congress. (entrance to Capitol bldg is 12th & Congress)
• there will be no vendors; bring yr own food & water to share!

2. Mission Statement – Final review

• edit/approve
• we now have a guide!:

[see the new Mission Statement on the Mission Statement page]

3. Armageddon File to Congress and major media - getting it done

• we can print out address labels
• we need 565 copies made (it's a 16-page document)
• we need to stuff 565 envelopes & lick stamps

4. City Council - what’s next?

• resolution on supporting veterans' benefits: the administration has backed off on this.

• address the Patriot Act
• the battle for information distribution: THE MEDIA
• the Observer is a great forum for our message: http://www.observercc.com
• we need to create our OWN media:

- publish Ann & Martha's friend's paper about political prisoners in the US
- our members need to write letters, articles to editors, representatives
- we decide to have a letter-writing workshop at some future Thursday meeting (both style and substance): Martha Moore will coordinate
- engaging the other side: finding common ground. Rather than challenging people, you're engaging them.

5. Pass the hat

• collect $46.30

6. Networking and visiting -- supporting the Lotus Cup

Next meeting: Creative Spirit, 7pm, next Thursday, May 1 (directions).
