News Friday, 14 March, 2003: South Texas Alliance for Peace is sponsoring a couple of events this weekend: 1) Silent Vigil at the Federal Courthouse from 1:00pm-2:30pm Saturday. Peace lovers all over the world will be marching and rallying this day. While we will not be having speakers or be marching, feel free to bring signs, banners, songs, and a positive attitude. 2) Global Candlelight Vigil for Peace: Sunday, 7pm-8:30pm, at the "It is I" statue in front of the First United Methodist Church on Shoreline (I call it the "Surfing Jesus" statue). Given the typical wind conditions here in Corpus Christi, you may want to bring a flashlight in case candles won't stay lit. For more information, visit http://www.globalvigil.org/ In addition, several of us will be driving up to Austin Saturday afternoon to participate in the big March & Rally at the State Capital. Our group will be meeting directly in front of the Capital Building, at Congress Ave & 12th St., between 12:30-1pm. Let's continue to give voice to our consciences! for older news, see our News Archive |
