News Monday, 17 February, 2003: What a fantastic Peace March & Rally we held last Saturday afternoon! We had a great turnout of close to 500. The march was inspiring. Our speakers were completely sensible and motivating. The media turned out in full force. And the weather cleared up just in time for the sun to shine down on us (whose side is God on?)! We should all be proud to have put together this March in just over one month. There were so many of you who contributed to making this happen. Just a couple notes as we re-evaluate our situation... One, anybody who took photographs, please contact me-- I want to gather them into an archive, and add them to our photo Gallery. Two, future events: A. next PFA meeting is Thurs 20 Feb, 7:30pm, at Holy Cross Church, 1109 N. Staples. B. Fern Katz talk: Thurs, 27 Feb, 7:30pm, at Creative Spirit Studio, across the courtyard from the Lotus Cup, 505 S. Water St., inside the Center on Water. This event is part of our on-going efforts to educate ourselves and our community about issues dealing with peace. Ms. Katz, an international political activist, is a member of the board and Detroit-area chair of WAND (Women's Action for New Directions, formerly Women's Action for Nuclear Disarmament). Possible topics for her meeting: 1. WAND: Women's Action for New Directions, http://www.wand.org/ 2. WILL: The Women Legislators’ Lobby, http://www.wand.org/will/bkround.html 3. The Defense budget relative to other spending and the world. 4. Dealing with the media, getting letters published in papers, getting access to legislators. 5. STAND, http://www.wand.org/STAND/index.html Stay in touch, as PFA's here to stay! |
