News Friday, 14 February, 2003: Had another productive meeting last night at the Holy Cross Church. About 50 PFA artists busily churned out pro-peace signs, banners, and posters for tomorrow's big Peace March/Rally. We will be ready for the media! One of the big questions at last night's meeting was "what if it rains?" Concensus: "March anyway!" This is too important to let a little water mute us. If, at 4pm it is raining cats and dogs, we will all just drive down to Cole Park and huddle under umbrellas and tarps, all the while raising our collective voices above the din of the mass media war propaganda machine. But everything seems to be coming together. We have all the required permits, teams of volunteers are getting together to provide transportation, setup/tear down, first aid, security, etc. Member Delores Dees has recruited at the last minute her cousin Bill Dees to perform. Bill, who co-wrote the mega-hit "Pretty Woman" with Roy Orbison, is driving straight down from Bransom, Missouri to play-- for free-- at our Rally. He is that sure of the wrongness of this war! One more thing: if, during the March, we are approached by hecklers, simply ignore them! There will be no reasoning with such people, and our message is one of PEACE. There will be special "peacekeepers" among us who are specially prepared to deal with such confrontations. The peacekeepers will be wearing green arm bands to help designate them. Anyway-- enough for now. We will see you at the Federal Courthouse! |
