News Friday, 7 February, 2003: The meeting last night at Holy Cross Church went really well. Attendees contributed over $345 to the purpose of halting this impending war on Iraq. The money we have raised so far funded the stacks of flyers and informative articles that were spread over one of the tables of the Parish Hall. Before the end of the night, people had cleared out those stacks, and will be distributing PFA info all around Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. Channel 3's Virginia Broady came around with a cameraman and shot some video and talked to David Owen and the evening's special guest-- Bruce, an Armenian who grew up in Baghdad. Bruce's testimony was especially intriguing, as he recounted his experiences in the highly segregated society of Iraq. Bruce also stated that, even though he wants Saddam ousted, there have got to be many different, and BETTER, ways to do it than through war. It was a nice segment, but Ms. Broady mistakenly said that the March starts at Cole Park on proceeds to the Federal Courthouse. Actually, it's the other way around. Leading up to the big Peace March & Rally, we will be getting together to make signs, banners, etc., on Wednesday, 12 Feb, 2003, at 7:30pm, again at Holy Cross Church's Parish Hall, 1109 N. Staples. Please bring sign-making supplies, such as foam-core board, markers, scissors, construction paper, glue, glitter, etc. Kathryn Williams brought a nice info sheet regarding rally signs last night, which I will distribute out to you all via email. |
